OROLIA Advances Growth Strategy
Orolia announces launch of customer focused divisions and technology centers
SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS, France — As a part of its global strategy to expand the group’s presence and diversify in growth segments, Orolia (NYSE Alternext Paris - FR0010501015 - ALORO) announced today the launch of three key divisions to support its positioning, navigation and timing business,. The three divisions, Positioning Systems, Space and Navigation and Timing, Test & Measurement, will align and focus existing group companies along technology and market verticals to ensure a high level of applications knowledge, customer support and operating efficiencies at both the division and group level. Said Jean-Yves Courtois, Orolia Chairman and CEO, “We believe this new structure is a natural progression as we add companies to solidify our positions in key markets and provide for streamlined operating overhead structures within the divisions.” Added Courtois, “Each of the new divisions has a unique set of customers and applications and developing a scalable organization structure at this stage of our growth will serve to ensure we strengthen sales channels and are able to leverage development activities as we build our business both organically and by acquisition.”
Highlights and key initiatives within the divisions include:
- Positioning Systems: Orolia’s recent acquisition of Kannad will form the basis of the Positioning Systems Division. With a strong track record in positioning and tracking systems for harsh environments, Kannad CEO Jean-Pierre Bardon will serve as Managing Director of the division and work to establish a beach head in niche tracking applications using strengths in hardware and software integration. Said Bardon, “We appreciate the opportunity to build this new division by strengthening our leadership position for Cospas-Sarsat distress beacons and expect to add to the portfolio of key technologies needed to meet new and challenging positioning requirements for our customers.”
- Space and Navigation: SpectraTime and T4 Science will serve as the foundation for the division. As Managing Director for the division and continuing in his role of SpectraTime CEO, Pascal Rochat stated “As a major supplier for the European Global Navigation Satellite System Galileo we will support the new division with continued development of advanced clocks for future navigation satellite systems and expand our product and service portfolio to become the reference European player for advanced navigation satellite system capabilities”. Rochat further went on the say, “This new division structure will provide a platform to integrate new technologies and skills as we move up the value chain in European and International markets for Space and Navigation systems.”
- Timing, Test & Measurement: With the new division structure, group companies Pendulum and Spectracom will merge and will be supported by three core development/market focused business units. Under the Spectracom name the company will share a management, sales, and service infrastructure. Headed by Lisa Withers, Spectracom CEO, the division will focus on implementation of this infrastructure to expand its business in time and frequency markets and accelerate key research and development activities. Said Withers “I believe the combination of Pendulum’s and Spectracom’s product portfolio’s and sales channels give a real boost to both organizations in terms of critical mass and the opportunity to service customers on a global basis. With Spectracom offices now in the US, France, United Kingdom, Sweden, Russia and China we are in a very strong position to deliver leading products and local support to our customers.” Added Mr. Courtois, “Although global markets may continue to be unpredictable due to long-term economic conditions, we are nevertheless excited about our progress to date and the launch of these new divisions as this new structure will provide for both stability in our current business and a strong foundation for future growth going forward.”
